I'll review this article shortly. Wizardman 16:35, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Here are the issues I found:
- "605 overall pick in the 1980 MLB Draft, but " 605th, also link the draft.
- Fixed the "th". The draft is linked in the lead, should I link it again?
- "Cubs with the 320 overall pick" 320th. Also, is there anything out there about his being drafted rather late? Given his record and where he pitched it's surprising to me that he was outside the top 100.
- Fixed 320th. I can't find anything on why he was drafted that late... I would assume it has something to do with the arm injury, but I can't find sources for it.
- "When Al Nipper was supposed to become the Cubs fifth starter on April 23, Capel was to be called up to take his spot in the bullpen" could this be reworded? I think I get what it's trying to say but it's still confusing, especially since he was brought up to the Majors two weeks later so I don't know how he was there already.
- Reworded.
- "top of the 11 inning." 11th
- Fixed.
- "to the Toros prior 1992 MLB season" prior to the
- Added.
- "In March 1988, Capel used dipping tobacco and had a non-cancerous lesion removed from his lip; according to Capel, he started using the drug 12 years earlier and was trying to quit" This should be moved around a bit; start with noting his original dipping tobacco use and moving on to the lesion.
- Reworded.
I'll put the article on hold and will pass when issues are fixed. Wizardman 18:17, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
- Everything checks out now, so I'll pass the article. Wizardman 23:16, 24 November 2012 (UTC)
Remaining FAC comments
[edit]The following are comments not yet addressed but brought up at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Mike Capel/archive1:
- "In February 1986, Capel pitched in the University of Texas Alumni v. Varsity game, which ended in a 14–14 tie.": Is this important?
- One of the things I pointed out at PR was this newspaper article that appeared to be about Capel, but was not in the article. The nominator said that they would access it, but I don't see it included, nor is there a message at the peer review that the source wasn't useful. For comprehensiveness purposes, I'd like to know that this source has at least been checked for any useful material. To be fair, my searches haven't turned up anything else helpful that isn't already included in the sourcing, which with the possible exception of this one source seems to have been fully tapped.
- The above ref was actually very helpful, so I'll add in some information from there over the next day or two. Wizardman 22:36, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

- Chicago Cubs: You may want to find an appropriate wikilink for "optioned", as someone will surely find that to be jargony without some explanation.
- Linked. Albacore (talk) 13:44, 31 March 2013 (UTC)
- Milwaukee Brewers: Found a redundancy of the team name in "The Brewers optioned Capel to the Denver Zephyrs, their Triple-A affiliate, on April 5, before the start of the Brewers' season." Perhaps the second use of Brewers could be swapped out to fix this issue.
- Rewrote. Albacore (talk) 22:54, 20 April 2013 (UTC)
- add league (so it is Class A Quad Cities Cubs of the X League) so all teams in this paragraph are associated with a League.
- I don't think this is necessary and it would make the article harder to read, with more semi-irrelevant content. Albacore (talk) 22:38, 17 May 2013 (UTC)
- What level was Lodi at?
- Added. Albacore (talk) 13:42, 7 April 2013 (UTC)
- What date did they acquire Mike Bielecki?
- Added. Albacore (talk) 15:33, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- "He returned to the MLB club on August 8 to replace Schiraldi" Did he start any games that season?
- I think I've explained this well. He appeared in five more games before being demoted. Albacore (talk) 14:34, 21 April 2013 (UTC)
- Is there any explanation why he did not appear in the bigs in 1992?
- He was relegated to the minor leagues after failing to make the team in spring training. Anything more specific than that doesn't exist unless it's in the article noted above, which is possible. Wizardman 15:33, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
- Who were the closer and setup man for Houston and how did they do that year?
